Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas will visit Finland on Friday 29 September, the Prime Minister’s Office announced on Monday.
Kallas will arrive in Finland at the invitation of her Finnish counterpart Petteri Orpo (NCP). PM Kallas will also meet Finnish President Sauli Niinistö in Helsinki.
Orpo and Kallas will discuss topics such as border safety, the security situation in the Baltic Sea region and support for Ukraine.
The two leaders last met in Tallinn at the beginning of July. Since then, Kallas has been embroiled in a scandal at home in which it was revealed her husband, Arvo Hallik, has continued doing business in Russia despite its invasion of Ukraine.
The news initially broke in August, and was summarised by Estonian public service broadcaster ERR News.
French FM to visit
In addition to Kallas’ trip, France’s Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna will come to Finland on Thursday for a visit hosted by Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen (NCP).
“Relations between Finland and France are closer than ever following Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and Finland’s membership in Nato. We are working closely together in many different fields and levels. I am pleased to have this opportunity to host Minister Colonna in Helsinki,” Foreign Minister Valtonen wrote in a ministry press release.
During her visit to Finland, Colonna will also meet with Prime Minister Petteri Orpo.
