Greta Gerwig‘s Barbie film has sold over 303,000 tickets since its release, making it the highest-grossing film of the year in Finland. The film premiered on 21 July and became the country’s most-watched film of the year in less than two weeks.

Barbie overtook The Super Marios Bros, which premiered on 6 April and has sold just under 280,000 tickets at Finnish theatres so far.

According to Minna Lampolahti, media company Warner Bros.’ Head of Sales in Finland, Barbie has been seen by an average of 23,000 people every day.

“These figures have sometimes made me speechless,” she said.

The film starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling is enjoying widespread popularity around the world. According to entertainment outlet Deadline, worldwide box office sales surpassed 850 million US dollars this week.
