Inflation in Finland stood at 6.3 percent in June, according to preliminary data published by Statistics Finland on Friday. The figure reflected a slight decrease compared to 6.8 percent in May.
The agency attributed the inflation rate change to a decrease in fuel prices and a more moderate rise in electricity prices.
Compared to last year’s June figures, the most significant contributors to the rise in consumer prices were mortgage and consumer credit interest rates and the increase in electricity prices.
The inflation rate in the broader EU area eased to 5.5 percent in June, down from 6.1 percent in May, based on preliminary data from the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP).
The corresponding figure in Finland was 4.1 percent for June. HICP is a measure that provides a standardised comparison of inflation across countries in the European Union.
