Finland’s Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen criticized British Defense Minister Ben Wallace’s statements at the NATO summit that Ukraine showed “ingratitude” for Western support, stressing that aid to Kyiv should not be seen as charity.

– We must understand that this is not charity, because Ukraine is fighting for us, it is fighting for our freedom and the European security architecture, – she said in an interview with the Financial Times.

Valtonen assured Ukraine of the loyalty and commitment of Western partners, and also that there is not and will be “war fatigue”.

– The truth is that Europe needs to do more. And I think as sad as the war was, the key takeaway was that there was a sudden realization in Europe that we need to invest in our defense much, much more than before, – she concluded.

British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace criticized Ukraine for treating Western allies “like Amazon”, providing lists of the weapons it needs, and that it is not sufficiently grateful for Western aid. People want to see at least a little gratitude, he said on Wednesday, July 12, at the NATO summit.
