Poland’s ambassador to Paris, Jan Emerik Rosciszewski, said Warsaw would have to come into conflict with Russia if Ukraine failed to defend its independence. According to him, Ukraine’s allies must defend “fundamental Western values.”

“If Ukraine fails to defend its independence, we will have no choice, we will have to enter into a conflict,” the Polish ambassador said on the air of the LCI TV channel (quoted by RIA Novosti).

He stressed that it is necessary to build up military support for Ukraine so that it can defend itself. “France, and especially Berlin, are under the illusion that this conflict could have taken place in a different way. But we cannot yield to Russia. The Ukrainian army today is the only army that protects us and our values. If we leave it without weapons, without planes, we will approach the end,” said the Polish ambassador.

The Russian side has repeatedly argued that Moscow perceives the actions of the West in relation to Ukraine as its direct involvement in the military conflict – in particular, in connection with the regular supply of military equipment and weapons to Kiev. Western leaders have repeatedly stressed that NATO is not going to become a participant in the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
