Moscow – The United States does not recognize Crimea as Russian territory and considers it Ukrainian, in this regard, they support Ukraine’s strikes on Russian military facilities on the peninsula, US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland said.
“Russia has built a lot of military installations in Crimea, they are legitimate targets that Ukraine is striking at, and we support this,” she said during a speech at the Carnegie Endowment in Washington.
Nuland noted that “at least without the demilitarization of Crimea, Ukraine will not be safe” and demilitarization should be part of a “sustainable containment.”
She added that even after the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, the West will continue to arm Ukraine, since there is no certainty that Russia will not resume it.
